We welcome Príncipe de Asturias University Hospital in Madrid, that has just joined the RESILIENCE project, together we will keep on working with the aim of helping people with cancer to live with a strong heart.
The Príncipe de Asturias University Hospital is located in the city of Alcalá de Henares and since its inauguration on 1987, the hospital has been adapting to continuous organizational and technological changes and the needs of a growing population. At present, the hospital has 507 beds with 39 different specialties and has earned recognized prestige among professionals and users. It develops a consolidated healthcare, research and teaching activity, for which it has the most modern technology and an excellent team of more than two thousand highly qualified professionals who have demonstrated their great professionalism and dedication to achieving high levels of quality and efficiency, offering quality specialized healthcare to its citizens who constitute the center of its activity and interest.
At the initial gathering held with the Hospital on December 11th, our RESILIENCE team shared the specifics of our clinical trial with Dr. Julio García Suarez and his team as well as the use of the Remote Ischemic Conditioning (RIC). The RIC is based on the positive effects that reversible episodes of occlusion and re-occlusion in the arm have on the heart, making it resistant to the damage of the chemotherapy treatment against cancer. With the use of the RIC, patients heart keeps being strong while at treatment and after it, turning away cardiovascular issues due to this treatment. The clinical trial RESILIENCE helps patients survive cancer with a strong heart.
