On Friday May 12th our RESILIENCE Steering Committee and General Assembly session were held at the National Center for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC) in Madrid. The meetings counted on the support of all the partners of the project financed by the European Commission, both national and international, as well as members of the external scientific advisory committee.
In the early morning meetings, we discussed the latest updates on the project, as well as the progress and novelties experienced by the different actors involved in its development within each of the participating countries. A very relevant aspect of the meetings was the discussion on the implementation of the recommendations made by the European Commission in the recent intermediate evaluation of the project.
“Our annual meeting offers us a fantastic opportunity to learn first-hand the perspectives of all the teams that work in RESILIENCE, in order to advance on this knowledge and translate it into a real impact on the well-being of patients”, said Dr. Borja Ibáñez, Coordinator of the RESILIENCE project and Scientific Director of CNIC.
The General Assembly closed with a presentation by Dr. Chiara Bucciarelli-Ducci, cardiologist at the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals in London, which together constitute one of the largest specialized heart and lung centers in Europe. Dr. Bucciarelli-Ducci is a member of the project’s external scientific advisory committee and spoke about the present and future of cardio-oncology, as well as the role magnetic resonance imaging plays in this field.
Following the conclusions, the attendees visited the CNIC facilities and laboratories in order to know the rest of the projects currently being carried out at the center from its seven research programs.
